Southern Glazer’s Opens High-Capacity Logistics Center

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has opened a 412,500-square-foot distribution and office facility in Lexington County, expanding its logistics capacity in South Carolina with a site built for higher storage density, faster order processing, and future expansion.

The campus  spans 85 acres and was designed with the ability to add more than 300,000 square feet, according to the company. Southern Glazer’s said the project is intended to improve service to retailers and suppliers across the state while modernizing warehouse operations.

“This new facility represents a major investment in Southern Glazer’s future in South Carolina,” said Steve Baker, executive vice president and general manager for South Carolina. “It was purpose-built to enhance service for our customers, support our supplier partners and create an efficient, modern workplace for our team members, while positioning our business for continued growth across the state.”

The building includes 13 receiving dock doors and 22 shipping dock doors, parking for 279 vehicles and yard capacity for 108 trailers. The warehouse incorporates automated material-handling systems and two multi-level pick modules intended to improve throughput and order accuracy.

Southern Glazer’s said the site can store approximately 1.39 million cases. The two pick modules together hold about 75,000 cases. Four palletizers at the facility can process up to 800 cases per hour each. The building also includes dedicated bottle storage areas and temperature-controlled rooms for products requiring cold handling.

Company officials said they worked with Lexington County economic development staff during site selection, permitting, and construction. County officials assisted with planning and approvals to keep the project on schedule and allow for long-term expansion.

Southern Glazer’s, headquartered in Miami and Dallas, distributes wine, spirits and nonalcoholic beverages across the United States and Canada.
